An update from our chief executive

15 April 2020

The time has come for our schools and academies to serve a slightly different but equally important social purpose to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Our academies remain partially open to help support those most in need, including our most vulnerable pupils and the country’s key workers. For all other pupils, we will be working remotely and setting homework online and through work packs.

I am sure you will agree that above SATs, GCSEs and A-level exams, our priority must be to keep our children safe and looked after. I would like to reassure you that we will do all we can to provide for them and the country’s key workers in the coming weeks and months.

This will be a new way of working for us, and we will soon be supporting and inspiring our pupils in different ways. I have every confidence in the many talented people across our trust that together we can continue to care for and educate our pupils during these challenging times.

I take this opportunity to reiterate just how grateful I am to colleagues across the trust for their selfless dedication to our pupils and the communities we serve. I understand that many of us are concerned and that we may have difficult times ahead, but I would also like to reassure our communities that we will continue to support them no matter the circumstances.
