How we support our students
Each student in sixth form is supported and coached to reach their personal best.
We have a strong pastoral system within our academy and sixth form students are often trained to support those younger members of our school.
The sixth form students will have extensive support with regards to UCAS applications and are taken on many university visits and tours. This enables them to see what their potential is and to also sample higher education.
Students have access to the careers adviser in our academy and also have links with various universities that are local to us who support them whether it be with academic work or simply decisions for their future.
We have recently made links with Oxford and Cambridge university who will be working alongside our learners to offer support with applications and subject choices.
ESFA 16 – 19 Tuition Fund
The tuition fund is available to support learners to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). The school uses this funding in the following ways:
- Access to Coachbright programme 2020-2021 to support learning on a 1:1 basis in the subjects that the students require extra support in.
- Support for students who have not attained a level 4 in English or Maths using small support groups lead by staff in school or an external provider.
- Additional 1:1 sessions, resources or other support deemed necessary to ensure students are supported in their subjects.
